Manchester Airport is a convenient option for international arrivals, with direct rail services to Lancaster. The conference venue is in Lancaster city centre. If you are staying at Lancaster University's Bailrigg Campus, please plan a separate journey between your accommodation and the Town Hall.

By Air

Manchester Airport (MAN)

  1. After arrival, follow signs to Manchester Airport railway station. The station is linked to the terminals by walkways; see the airport’s train travel guide for directions.
  2. Search for a train from Manchester Airport to Lancaster. Direct services are available, while other departures require a change. Check the Manchester Airport to Lancaster route or National Rail for the journey time, changes and fares on your travel date.
  3. From Lancaster station, continue to the Town Hall on foot or by taxi, as described below.

Allow time between your flight and train for passport control, baggage collection and the walk to the station. If your flight arrives late in the evening, check the last onward train before booking your journey.

Local Transport and University Accommodation

Between Bailrigg Campus and the City Centre

Lancaster University’s main campus is approximately three miles south of the city centre. If you are staying in the University Guest Rooms, you will need to travel into the city for the conference.

Stagecoach services 1 and 1A connect the campus and city centre. Lancaster University Underpass, beneath Alexandra Square, is a useful campus stop, and Common Garden Street is a city-centre stop from which you can continue on foot to Dalton Square. Check the direction and stops of your chosen service before boarding.
